Liverpool fans react to links to Dominik Szoboszlai

Plenty of Liverpool fans have given their verdict on the links to Dominik Szoboszlai.

The collective blood pressure on the red half of Merseyside has probably increased ten-fold this week, as Jurgen Klopp’s men made life difficult for themselves against Red Bull Salzburg.

One thing to come out of the game though was that the likes of Szoboszlai, Takumi Minamino, Hwang Hee-chan and of course Erling Haaland highlighted their reputation as some of the most talented but lesser-known players in Europe’s top-tier competition.

Szoboszlai has now been linked with a move to Anfield, though they reportedly face competition from the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan and Arsenal.

The report claims those teams, along with the Reds, were watching his display intently at Anfield on Wednesday.

Fans aren’t overly fond of the rumours though, with many pointing to Minamino and Haaland as the men they would prefer to sign.

One fan has also raised the concern that it would be difficult to craft a chant for the 18 year-old, who has five Hungary caps already.

Leeds United fans are furious with the referee after their defeat at Millwall

Leeds United fans have been left rueing one crucial decision in their defeat at Millwall on Saturday after the referee decided to send off Gaetano Berardi in the 14th minute.Managerless Millwall converted the resulting penalty to take the lead before doubling their advantage on the stroke of half time, as Tom Bradshaw fired home a smart finish after good build-up play between Ben Thompson and Shane Ferguson, with the 28-year-old teeing up the striker with a deft backheel assist.Straight after the break, Leeds pulled one back when Ezgjan Alioski tapped in a Jack Harrison cross, but Marcelo Bielsa’s side could not find an equaliser despite dominating with 71.3% possession in the second half, even with one less player than their opposition.Watch Leeds United Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

Several of the Whites’ fanbase took to Twitter to blast the referee for his role in the defeat.

One supporter believed there had to be an anti-Leeds agenda, claiming it is ‘100% cheating’, while another fan said the man in the middle should be demoted as he’s seen better officiating in an Under-9s league.

A further member of the Elland Road faithful called out the Football League for being ‘corrupt’ with one more describing the referee’s performance as ‘shocking.’

Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger signs book deal for his first-ever autobiography

Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger has signed a deal to release his first autobiography, per The London Evening Standard.Weidenfeld and Nicolson, one of Britain’s leading literary imprints, have agreed to publish the Frenchman’s book which will be titled “My Life in Red and White”.

Wenger, 70, spent 22 years at the helm at Highbury and the Emirates and guided the Gunners to three Premier League titles and two FA Cups, including the famous Invincibles campaign of 2003/04 when the Frenchman’s side went an entire season unbeaten.

The book will highlight Wenger’s career in-depth, including both the good times and the challenging later years. His autobiography is set to be released in Britain and France during Autumn 2020.

Arsenal supporters were pretty chuffed about the announcement. One fan said that the book is going to be a “good read”, while another said that he is “counting down the days already”.

Liverpool legend Carragher reveals what he did after nightmare against Man Utd

Manchester United vs Liverpool is one of the Premier League’s most heated rivalries.

On the pitch and in the stands it’s always been a tasty affair, but in recent years the feud has moved into another area.

Indeed, we see the United vs Liverpool rivalry in the Sky Sports studio on almost a weekly basis now, as Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville consistently bicker about their respective clubs on television for our entertainment.

We can’t complain as it makes for some of the best football coverage you could possibly ask for, but in the build-up to the two sides meeting on Sunday the pair have been reminiscing about their playing days.

Of course, both men had good and bad memories of the fixture, but Carragher’s performance back in 1999 certainly takes the cake as the worst of the bunch.

The defender scored two own goals as the Reds met the Red Devils, and this week he revealed on Sky Sports’ YouTube channel what he did after the match.

It’s no surprise that Carragher attempted to drown his sorrows after his horror showing.

The former England international said he went far away from his locals to somewhere “posh”, and we’re guessing he probably didn’t catch Match of the Day that evening.

Spurs fans react to Heung-min Son’s frustration

Tottenham Hotspur’s start to the 2019/20 campaign has seen the club slide to seventh in the Premier League table, and the decision from Mauricio Pochettino to bench one of the club’s key men in this weekend’s clash with Watford has got some fans talking after his passionate reaction to Spurs going behind against the Hornets.

Heung-min Son, 27, was benched by Pochettino for the game against the Premier League’s bottom side who were winless coming into the clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Yet Spurs needed an 86th-minute equaliser from Dele Alli to secure a point against the Hornets as their inconsistent start to the current campaign continued with yet another disappointing domestic result.

After witnessing Son’s reaction to Spurs going behind, these fans were quick to jump to Twitter, with some praising him and others questioning why Pochettino left him on the bench in the first place.

Here are some of the best responses to Son’s reaction to his side conceding…

Everton fans do not want Morgan Schneiderlin back after injury update

Everton fans have taken to Twitter to express their desire to keep Morgan Schneiderlin far away from the starting XI. The Toffees finally returned to winning ways weekend, having put in an impressive performance against West Ham United.

As a result, it seems as if the fans do not want to see a change in the team and are happy with the way things are. It is understandable when you consider last week’s victory was just their third of the Premier League season.

Marco Silva did indeed confirm that Schneiderlin and Fabian Delph are back and available for the Brighton & Hove Albion clash, with the former taking a lot of stick.

The Frenchman, who is valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt, has had a torrid season so far and it seems as if the supporters are not ready to give him another chance. Instead, a lot of the Everton faithful are calling for the same partnership of Tom Davies and Andre Gomes, with one fan saying “if it’s not broke don’t fix it”.

The 29-year-old has averaged just a 6.07 rating in the league this season and has seemingly caused more problems than he has solved.

Here’s what some fans have had to say on his comeback…

Charlton must keep a close eye on West Brom’s Pereira and Diangana

This article is part of Football FanCast’s The Chalkboard series, which provides a tactical insight into teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…

Charlton travel to the Hawthorns this Saturday to take on a West Brom side who are flying right now.

Slaven Bilic’s men are sitting pretty at the top of the Championship table having lost just one of their 13 league games this season – the Baggies have amassed 26 points and are two points clear of 2nd-place Leeds.

In Charlton’s case, Lee Bowyer’s side suffered heartbreak last time out after they saw what was a 1-0 lead over Bristol City turn into a 2-1 defeat, with Josh Brownhill scoring a 97th minute winner.

Despite the loss, the Addicks still sit comfortably in 10th, just five points behind West Brom.

If they are serious about making up ground on the Midlands-based side, then here are two players they must pay close attention to…

Grady Diangana

The on-loan West Ham man has been in fine form so far this season since arriving from the London Stadium.

Diangana has scored four goals and registered three assists in just eight Championship starts, while also winning two WhoScored Man of the Match awards.

In addition to that, the 21-year-old has some healthy-looking attacking averages. Diangana records 1.6 shots, two key passes and 2.8 dribbles per game in the Championship, and is also fouled 1.3 times per game on average.

Matheus Pereira

Another on-loan star is Brazilian attacker Matheus Pereira. The 23-year-old arrived from Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan back in the summer, and has had an excellent start to life in England.

Pereira has scored three goals and grabbed four assists in the same amount of starts as Diangana, while the diminutive Brazilian also gets involved heavily in the final third.

West Brom’s No.12 records two shots per game and 2.4 key passes per game, and is fouled by the opposition 2.7 times per game on average – going off that last statistic, he has proven to be a handful for the opposition to contain.

If Bowyer and Charlton allow the Baggies’ loan duo to run riot on Saturday, they will likely be travelling back to The Valley empty-handed.

Crystal Palace fans react as Rhian Brewster is linked with a move to Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after it was reported that Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster is in the Eagles’ sights ahead of a January loan swoop for the teenager.

Brewster, 19, is highly-rated by Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, with the former Borussia Dortmund boss stating back in the summer that the academy graduate has a big role to play for the Merseysiders.

“Rhian is a really big talent. We’re really looking forward to seeing him in training. It will be an important role for us, we’ve planned an important role for him.”

However, the aforementioned report states that the England U17 World Cup and Golden Boot winner is a loan target for the south Londoners this winter, and Palace believe Brewster can provide competition for Christian Benteke, Jordan Ayew and Connor Wickham.

The Liverpool teen has started both of the Reds’ Carabao Cup games this season against MK Dons and Arsenal, but is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League this term – he has, however, netted 20 goals in 44 appearances throughout the Liverpool youth ranks.

Let’s take a look at how the Palace fans on Twitter reacted to the news…

Man Utd fans react to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s injury update on key duo

After slipping to a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth last weekend, Manchester United were in desperate need of bouncing back in style.

And on Thursday night, the Red Devils did exactly that with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer went in with a surprisingly strong side for the clash, and he was duly rewarded, with goals from first-team stars like Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

But, as is always the case with such team selections, you run the risk of potentially picking up one or two injuries that you could have avoided had you decided to rotate more heavily.

Speaking after the game, Solskjaer admitted both Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire had picked up knocks during the clash against the Serbian side. The Norwegian revealed the latter should be fine for the game against Brighton on Sunday, but delivered a more worrying assessment of his midfielder, saying he is “more of a concern”.

After hearing the injury update on the duo, United fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on Solskjaer’s handling of the matter.

Many supporters of the Manchester side slammed the Red Devils boss for his role in the pair potentially being ruled out of Sunday’s game, and insisted it is something he could have completely avoided.

West Ham should leave Roberto in goal despite his struggles, according to Danny Mills

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Pundit View series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent quotes from journalists, pundits, players and managers…

Speaking to Football Insider, Danny Mills has suggested that Manuel Pellegrini should stick with Roberto as West Ham United’s goalkeeper.

What did he say?

Roberto struggled once again on Saturday, as West Ham United lost 3-2 against Newcastle United, with his worst moment coming for the Magpies’ second goal.

This can be added to a growing list of moments that have seen the Spaniard fail to cover himself in glory since the 4-0 loss against Oxford United.

However, when speaking to Football Insider, Danny Mills suggested that Manuel Pellegrini should stick by Roberto: “Sometimes, if you drop the goalkeeper because of one bad game, sometimes there needs to be [patience]. You can damage confidence very, very quickly and he might not come back from that.

“Sometimes you just need to bite your tongue and through gritted teeth go: ‘He’s had a bad game, it’s not happening, work hard in training.’ Sometimes when things aren’t going your way you need a goalkeeper with experience. It happens, it happens to the best of them.”

This could be detrimental

It was expected that the 33-year-old would not be able to reach the level of Lukasz Fabianski, who is out injured for the rest of the year, but his performances have still left many underwhelmed and concerned.

But Mills is absolutely right to suggest that this could impact the confidence of Roberto, as this has been the Spaniard’s big opportunity to show that he can help the Hammers, so switching him out would mean he had ultimately failed.

While Roberto has not been overly impressive in Fabianski’s absence, there’s no doubt it could be damaging if he was dropped from the first team.

It will be interesting to see how Pellegrini approaches an emerging dilemma in the coming weeks.
