QUAL É A PROPOSTA DO SANTOS

“- A proposta já foi avaliada. A SPU recepcionou o laudo de avaliação, estando no momento em trâmite administrativo;

– O processo do imóvel está sendo submetido à autorização de alienação por parte da Unidade Central da SPU, onde serão definidas as condições de alienação em edital de venda;

Man Utd now preparing £130m move for "world-class" GK and "generational" CM

Manchester United are now preparing a £130m double swoop for a “world-class” goalkeeper and a “generational” midfielder, according to a report.

Man Utd ramping up pursuit of new goalkeeper and midfielder

Ruben Amorim made it clear he was happy with his side’s performance in their opening Premier League match, despite suffering a 1-0 defeat at home against Arsenal, with the manager saying: “I am proud of the players. I said so many times that the players need to adapt. Intensity, the way they are sprinting. They fought for every duel. They were so brave playing one against one. They were really brave, and I am happy with that.”

However, the difference between the two sides was Riccardo Calafiori’s first-half goal, which came from a Declan Rice corner that Altay Bayindir dealt with poorly, according to both Roy Keane and Micah Richards.

With Andre Onana also suffering widespread criticism since his arrival at Old Trafford, it is little wonder that Amorim is now looking to bring in a new goalkeeper, alongside a midfielder, with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba known to be well-liked.

However, the Red Devils have halted their pursuit of Baleba, and they have now moved on to an alternative target, according to a report from Spain, which suggests chiefs are prepared to spend big on a midfielder and goalkeeper.

The report states Man United are now willing to shell out a combined €150m (£130m) to get deals for Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton over the line.

Gianluigi Donnarumma at Club World Cup final.

The addition of Wharton would ideally provide Bruno Fernandes with more attacking freedom, while signing a new goalkeeper is deemed a top priority for Amorim, following Bayindir’s costly error against the Gunners on Sunday.

Wharton and Donnarumma could be statement signings for Man Utd

Despite being unable to pick up a positive result in the opener against Arsenal, there were some positive signs for Man United, with new signings Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha looking particularly lively.

However, United’s goalkeeper ultimately cost them once again, underlining how vital it is to bring in a replacement before the deadline, and Donnarumma could be a real upgrade, having been lauded as “world-class” by Carlo Ancelotti in the past.

The 26-year-old is proven at the top level, having featured 15 times for PSG en-route to their Champions League final triumph last season, and he should undoubtedly be United’s priority target.

Man Utd chiefs convinced they'll win race for "elite" number one stopper

The Red Devils are feeling more than optimistic…

While Wharton is yet to play in Europe’s elite competition, the Englishman is Premier League proven, much like previous arrivals Mbeumo and Cunha, and he clearly has a lot of potential, having been lauded as a “generational talent” by members of the media.

Knight backs T20 'reset' to bring out England's best

The visitors are 6-0 down after being whitewashed in the ODI series

Knight: England will ‘keep believing’ after Australia’s ODI sweep

Heather Knight believes that an injection of fresh faces and a return to England’s best format gives them hope of turning around the Ashes series around after they were trounced 3-0 in the ODIs.England have left themselves no option but to win every remaining match of the multiformat series – three T20Is and the day-night Test at the MCG – after falling 6-0 behind with their heavy defeat in Hobart as Australia secured an ODI whitewash. Even if it’s 6-6 heading into that game Australia would only need a draw to retain the Ashes.Related

“The last Ashes series was 6-0 and we’re able to turn things around,” Knight said. “I think having a change of format will be really good for us. I think T20 cricket is one of our best formats. I think that little reset will do us some good.”We’ve got to keep believing, but we can’t look too far ahead. Back in the last Ashes, we kept it game by game and just got on a bit of a roll. We’re still alive, we’re still in it, and we’ve got to keep believing we can.”Bess Heath, Dani Gibson, Freya Kemp and Linsey Smith come into the squad for the T20Is have not been part of the one-day series. Both teams have points to prove in the format after England went out in the group stage of last year’s T20 World Cup in the UAE and Australia exited in the semi-finals. The home side have not played a T20I since that tournament whereas England have had a tour of South Africa but Knight did not see that as a significant advantage.”I think they’re a team that play T20 cricket very well,” she said. “And as are we. We’ve played some brilliant T20 cricket recently in the last year. So hopefully it does [help] but I don’t think it will make a huge advantage them not playing too much.”England have left themselves needing to win all the remaining matches to take the Ashes•Getty Images

Meanwhile, Kate Cross will be among a handful of England players who will now switch their attention to preparing for the pink-ball Test at the MCG.Knight confirmed that Cross, who has been recovering from a back problem picked up in South Africa, was very close to playing the final ODI and that the bowler herself felt she could have featured.”Kate felt like she was pretty close and probably fit enough to play,” Knight said. “But we felt like it was too much of a risk really because she hasn’t had a huge amount of cricket. She’s still in a place where it is a bit grumbly and can flare up at any time.”The Test match girls will have a little bit of a camp away from us, training, so Tammy [Beaumont] and Ryana MacDonald-Gay will be a part of that. They’ll get a really good preparation. So, it’s moving in the right direction [for Cross].”Switching between formats is a challenge during this series in a condensed schedule. There are just two days between the end of the ODIs before the first T20I at the SCG, then a four-day gap for players to get ready for the pink-ball four-day encounter in Melbourne.Australia are expected to name their Test squad on Monday.

Ghazanfar out of Champions Trophy and IPL; Afghanistan name Kharote as replacement

Afghanistan are also without Mujeeb Ur Rahman at the Champions Trophy, though he played the entire SA20 for Paarl Royals

AM Ghazanfar, the 18-year-old right-arm fingerspinner who has made such a bright start to his ODI career, has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 because of a “fracture in the L4 vertebra”. Left-arm spinner Nangeyalia Kharote, who was originally in the list of reserves, has now replaced Ghazanfar in the main squad. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), which tweeted out the news on Wednesday morning, said that Ghazanfar sustained the injury during Afghanistan’s tour of Zimbabwe late last year, and “will be sidelined for a minimum of four months and will remain under treatment during this period”. That means he will also be out of the IPL that is set to be played from March 21 to May 25. Ghazanfar had bagged his maiden IPL contract recently, with Mumbai Indians.Ghazanfar, who has 21 wickets from 11 ODIs so far, played three games for MI Emirates in the UAE’s ILT20 league in January after the tour of Zimbabwe. He wasn’t as effective as MI Emirates would have hoped him to be, though, bowling 7.1 overs in those three games, and picking up just one wicket with an economy rate of 9.48.

Twenty-year-old Kharote, who hasn’t played for Afghanistan since the ODI series against Bangladesh in Sharjah in November last year – he starred in Afghanistan’s win in the second game with 3 for 28 – has played seven ODIs and six T20Is since making his international debut in March 2024.Afghanistan have a group of top-notch spinners in their line-up – Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad and Mohammad Nabi – but continue to be without Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Mujeeb, who played the full SA20 season with Paarl Royals through January and early February, hasn’t played for Afghanistan since that tour of Zimbabwe and was not named in the original Champions Trophy squad. He has not played ODIs since the 2023 World Cup in India and will be out “until he has fully recovered”, the ACB statement said.Afghanistan squad for the Champions TrophyHashmatullah Shahidi (capt), Ibrahim Zadran, Ikram Alikhil (wk), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Sediqullah Atal, Rahmat Shah (vice-capt), Azmatullah Omarzai, Gulbadin Naib, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Fareeh Ahmad, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Nangeyalia Kharote, Naveed Zadran, Noor Ahmad

Chelsea's last five loan signings prove Buonanotte is doomed to fail

As it is every year, the summer transfer window was a busy period for Chelsea.

In addition to selling a host of players, the Blues also added an array of incredibly exciting youngsters to Enzo Maresca’s side.

However, while most of the window was a success, fans might have been a bit underwhelmed on deadline day, as the club recalled Marc Guiu, sent Nicolas Jackson out on loan, and paid £2m to sign Facundo Buonanotte on a season-long loan.

It feels like an odd choice as there is no option to buy; he was set to join relegation battlers Leeds United before the Blues came in, and yet they’ve left him out of the Champions League squad, alongside the likes of Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi, despite him making it very clear that playing in Europe was one of his reasons for joining.

It just feels like a move that is destined to fail, and if the club’s previous five loan signings are anything to go by, it will.

5 Gonzalo Higuaín

The first name on our list takes us back to January 2019, when Maurizio Sarri needed some more firepower in his side, and Chelsea signed Gonzalo Higuaín to provide it.

The club had a buy option worth £31.3m included in the deal, as well as another option worth just £15.6m to extend the loan until June 2020.

Unfortunately, neither option was even in danger of being activated, as the Argentinian offered very little in attack.

In all, the former Juventus star made 18 appearances for the club, totalling 1,313 minutes, in which he scored just five goals against weaker opposition, such as Huddersfield, Burnley, and Watford.

4 Saúl Ñíguez

Moving into the midfield now, and on September 1st, 2021, Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea signed Saúl Ñíguez on a season-long loan for £3.4m with a £30m option to buy.

There was considerable excitement surrounding this deal, as the previous season saw him make 41 appearances for Atlético Madrid, who won La Liga.

Unfortunately, he is on this list, and that means it didn’t work out for him.

Chalkboard

Football FanCast’s Chalkboard series presents a tactical discussion from around the global game.

The Spanish international would make just 23 appearances for the club, scoring one goal before he returned to Spain in the summer.

3 Denis Zakaria

Chelsea midfielder Denis Zakaria.

Thomas Tuchel was still in charge in September 2022 and oversaw the signing of Denis Zakaria on a season-long deal with an option to buy, although it’s unclear for how much.

It didn’t really matter, though, as the “absolute machine,” as hailed by his former Servette coach Adam Owen, made even less of an impact than loan players before him.

Despite being at the club for the entire season, the Swiss international made just 11 appearances, totalling 600 minutes, in which he scored a single goal.

Even for this list, Zakaria’s loan spell was remarkably unremarkable.

2 João Félix

Marc Guiu

A player who had a little more of an impact in West London was João Félix, who first moved to Graham Potter’s Chelsea on a short-term loan in January 2023, for a fee of around £9.69m.

The Portuguese ace had a debut to remember, away to Fulham, as he was shown a straight red for a terrible tackle in the 58th minute.

The versatile international would leave West London – for the first time – with a tally of just four goals and no assists to his name in 20 appearances.

1 Jadon Sancho

Last but certainly not least, we come to the most disappointing player on this list of disappointments: Jadon Sancho.

The Manchester United player joined the Blues on a season-long deal last summer that included an obligation to buy for between £20m and £25m.

However, as you are no doubt aware, the Englishman is now plying his trade at Aston Villa, and the reason for that is that the West Londoners decided to pay a £5m fee to United this summer to avoid taking him on permanently.

That alone should probably tell you how successful the 25-year-old’s spell at Stamford Bridge was, as while he racked up a decent enough tally of five goals and ten assists, he did so in 41 games, with a sizable chunk coming in the Conference League.

Ultimately, Chelsea’s recent record with loan deals is not great, and while it’s unlikely to significantly impact the club, we cannot see Buonanotte having a great time in West London this season.

Surrey have filled the main gap in their T20 squad with the signing of New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner for the majority of the Vitality Blast season. Santner is available for eight group-stage games and the knockouts in September, if Surrey qualify.Batting allrounders Dan Lawrence, Cameron Steel and Will Jacks were Surrey’s spin options in the Blast last year, but the addition of Santner brings them a frontline option with more than 200 appearances in the format. Surrey have been losing semi-finalists two years in a row, and have not won the trophy since its inaugural season back in 2003.Santner, who recently became New Zealand’s white-ball captain, will arrive in London after the IPL, where he is due to play for Mumbai Indians. He will miss the end of the group stages on international duty but should be available for the knockouts in September. He is also likely to feature in the Hundred again this year, having spent last season with Northern Superchargers.Related

He’s a proven international cricketer who plays T20 cricket all over the world and has built an excellent skillset.”Santner will play alongside his international team-mate Nathan Smith at The Oval, with Smith due to play in both the County Championship and the Blast from the start of May until the end of the season, around his New Zealand commitments.

He's outscoring Woltemade: Newcastle must regret selling the original Wissa

Now that the Alexander Isak debacle is over, Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe can get to work and make headway throughout the 2025/26 campaign.

While PIF’s intent was always to keep the Sweden international on the books this summer, Newcastle, having won last year’s Carabao Cup and qualified for the Champions League with a fifth-place Premier League finish, his obstinacy in forcing his way out of St. James’ Park made it a tricky situation to circumvent.

Luckily, the Magpies have pulled through with some shrewd dealings over the past couple of months, and Howe will feel that he has a squad fit to challenge, having replaced Isak and Callum Wilson with two new strikers.

Newcastle's centre-forward changes

Isak scored 27 goals across all competitions last season, including 23 in the Premier League, putting him behind only Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Replacing him was never going to be an easy task, but Howe must be content with the £50m addition of Yoane Wissa from Brentford, with the 28-year-old having posted 19 strikes across the 2024/25 campaign.

Wissa doesn’t have the depth of technical quality or range of weapons as Isak, but he should provide a consistent outlet in the final third.

And with Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade having also signed in a club-record £69m deal last month, Newcastle have the potential to refashion their frontline into something special.

Newcastle have signed one of the most exciting young forwards in world football, but the jury is very much out as to whether he will hit the ground running in the Premier League – not least after netting just 17 goals in 2024/25, only 12 of which came in the Bundesliga.

With Isak now gone, Howe may well rue the sale of another free-scoring Premier League forward a few years ago.

Newcastle must regret selling the original Wissa

Newcastle signed Chris Wood from Burnley in a £25m deal in January 2022, part of a shake-up after PIF swooped in and changed the Toon’s trajectory.

Where Are They Now

Like Wissa, the one-time Leeds United man was a relative short-term solution, having moved to St James’ at the age of 30.

Like Wissa too, Wood had more than proven his Premier League credentials prior to making the switch, arriving in the North East after reaching double figures for league goals in each of his four full top-flight campaigns at Turf Moor.

Former Newcastle striker Chris Wood.

In all, the 6 foot 3 striker netted 49 goals in 144 games for the Clarets in the top tier, a remarkably similar record to Wissa’s own return of 45 goals in 137 league games back in west London.

Unfortunately, Wood subsequently looked “a bit lost” during his time at the club, as pundit Tam McManus remarked at the time, only scoring five goals across his 39 appearances.

However, Wood has bounced back and then some with the Tricky Trees, sensational last season as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side qualified for Europe.

His 20-goal return surpassed both Wissa and Woltemade’s respective hauls, and given the consistency of his output in the Premier League, Howe may well regret having issued his sale so prematurely.

The towering talisman resurrected his career at the City Ground, but it goes to show that the quality was always there, and that he might have gone from strength to strength on Tyneside had he been given more time.

But the decision to sign Isak ended his chances of becoming a superstar in black and white.

Wood might be 33 now, but he’s showing little sign of slowing down, having bagged himself a brace on the opening day of the season as Forest beat Brentford 3-1.

Had he found his footing on Tyneside, the New Zealand native might have eased the drama of the past few months and then some, providing Howe’s side with a clinical outlet over these past few weeks, which have yielded little in terms of success in the final third.
