Scott Parker expects Ryan Sessegnon to stay at Fulham this summer despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur, per the Daily Express.

What’s the word?

Spurs have an interest in signing the left-back, who can also play as a winger, per Football FanCast’s sources.

The teenager was reported to have told Fulham he wanted to play under Mauricio Pochettino at the beginning of the transfer window.

But, with less than a week of the window remaining, Parker insists that he expects Sessegnon to be a part of his squad for the 2019/20 season.

He said: “At this present moment, I expect Ryan still to be here when the window shuts.

“Obviously I have read the speculation. Will it affect him? That would be up to Ryan.

“It is not as if the phone has been ringing off the hook, a bid every other day for him and Fulham are turning it down, for him to have the hump.

“I had this too as a young player. But if there is one good thing about the transfer window it is that come 5 o’clock next week when the door shuts, he can’t go anywhere.”

Stop dithering

Spurs have to make a decision over Sessegnon.

Sources have confirmed that their interest in the player is genuine but there has been precious little movement to the objective of actually signing him.

It has been suggested by one source that the club would prefer to sell Danny Rose first, in order to free up the squad slot that Sessegnon would occupy, but they run the risk of missing out.

Indeed, Rose could still move after Thursday’s deadline – most foreign windows remain open until the end of the month – and it is approaching crunch time as to whether the north London club will get their man.

They should either table a bid or back away, allowing Sessegnon to focus on his football in the second-tier.

Amid this summer’s transfer saga involving Wilfried Zaha, a number of questionable opinions have come to light.

Here are just a few examples of what some supporters have been saying about the Eagles’ decision to slap a massive valuation on his head, with some reports saying that the figure is £80m whilst others have said £100m.

Nevertheless, the point still stands – Crystal Palace aren’t ruining Zaha’s career, but instead, they made it.

The south Londoners earned over £114m for finishing 12th last term. If Zaha is the difference between staying in such a cash-laden division or not, then Palace are well within their rights to charge what they are for him.

Aside from the financial aspect, who knows where the Ivorian would be now without Crystal Palace?

The Eagles were the ones to welcome the forward into their academy at the age of 12, spend years developing him and then hand him his first-team debut just five years later.

They were also the ones to grant him a dream move to Manchester United at just 20 years of age, having given him a platform to perform in the game.

To strengthen the argument even more, Palace were also the ones who wasted no time in bringing Zaha back to where he is adored after his move to Old Trafford turned into a nightmare.

Since doing so, the 26-year-old has rediscovered his mojo and become the exquisite talent that he is today, and he has Palace and only Palace to thank for that in terms of those in the footballing world.

The Eagles aren’t the ones ruining his career by denying him his move away this summer – instead, they are the ones who made the flamboyant attacker into the star that he is today, and anything suggesting otherwise is downright unfair on the club.

A number of Manchester United fans have called on their club to move for Leicester City attacker James Maddison.

In an interview with Soccer Bible, the Englishman revealed that he “used to support” United when Cristiano Ronaldo was at the club.

It is unclear whether the 5 foot 9 attacker still supports the Red Devils but his words have been well received by the club’s fans on social media.

Indeed, many of the supporters are keen for the 22-year-old to make the switch to Old Trafford as soon as possible.

Maddison scored seven times and registered seven assists in 36 Premier League appearances for Leicester during the 2018-19 campaign.

United had been expected to move for a new central attacker during the summer transfer window following Romelu Lukaku’s deprture, but that proved not to be the case with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saying they didn’t in order to aid Mason Greenwood’s development.

Whether Maddison could be a target at some point in the future remains to be seen.

Lots of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to discuss Philippe Coutinho’s imminent move to Bayern Munich on loan.

The Bundesliga champions have struck a deal with Barcelona that will see the Brazil international move to the Allianz Arena on a one-year loan deal with the option to buy.

Coutinho has struggled significantly in La Liga since ditching Liverpool for Barcelona, where he handed in a transfer request and paid some of his own money in order to get away from Anfield.

The Barcelona supporters booed him last term and it seems as if the Spanish champions have been trying to get rid of the 27-year-old all summer – he was reportedly in talks to join Tottenham, but a move never materialised.

Liverpool reportedly rejected the chance to re-sign Coutinho this summer too, so his move to Bayern has become a talking point amongst lots of fans on Twitter.

Writing in his column for The Daily Telegraph, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has voiced his concerns about the effect Sadio Mane’s possible fatigue could have on the Reds’ Premier League title challenge.

What did he say?

The Senegal international made it to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations with his country, but returned to training earlier than expected and has featured in all three of Liverpool’s opening games.

However, Carragher has now admitted he is worried Mane could suffer from burnout, and wondered just how much danger that could put the side’s title chances in.

He wrote: “Mane has become so important that Klopp is understandably reluctant to leave him out and let him have a proper rest. He has played in 53 club games since the start of the 2018-19 season. Of all the forwards throughout the entire Premier League, only Salah has played more than his 4,515 minutes.

“His (Klopp) use of Mane, unfortunately already suggests that Liverpool’s squad is not strong enough in the attacking positions. Mane himself has said that tiredness is only mental and that he has never had a holiday that lasts longer than 20 days since joining Red Bull Salzburg in 2012.

“I truly hope he is right but you cannot keep defying your body and my big worry is that there will be a drop off without a carefully scheduled rest. How Liverpool absorb either scenario could very well decide whether another Premier League challenge can be sustained.”

A bitter blow

Even a half-fit Sadio Mane would probably make Klopp’s starting eleven. The Senegalese star is a bundle of energy, and offers so much pace and trickery from out wide that there is such a significant drop-off in quality to the players who come in for him.

The Reds are undoubtedly in an incredibly difficult position. Manchester City have already shown in recent seasons how relentless they are, and any slip-up will be taken advantage of. If Klopp decides he needs to rest Mane, then he is hurting his team’s chances of picking up three points. Continue to play him however, and he risks exposing the winger to an injury that could rule him out for a significant period of time.

Depending on how the Champions League group stages pan out, the Liverpool boss’ best bet may be to rest the 27-year-old in those games. After all, it’s now the Premier League that the Merseyside club are hunting down.
