Mithali Raj marked her return as captain of the India Women’s side with a clean sweep in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka Women. Raj hit an unbeaten century – her fifth in ODIs – in the third ODI in Visakhapatnam to set up a 95-run win.India batted first for the first time in the series and lost their openers before getting to fifty. Raj and Harmanpreet Kaur then stabilised the innings with a 57-run stand for the third wicket. Even though India lost Harmanpreet and Vellaswami Vanitha in quick succession, Raj held up one end. She added 42 runs for the fifth wicket with Amita Sharma, before putting up an unbeaten stand of 81 for the sixth wicket in company of Jhulan Goswami to take India to 229 – the highest score by any team in this series. Raj, who remained unbeaten throughout the series, hit two sixes and eight fours in her 109-ball 104.Sri Lanka lost their first wicket early in a stiff chase, but their second-wicket pair of Lasanthi Madushani and Chamari Atapattu resisted India’s charge for 13.1 overs. That stand happened to be last bit of fight from Sri Lanka as they lost regular wickets to eventually crumble for 134 in 44 overs. Poonam Yadav bowled a stifling spell of 10-3-13-4.The teams are scheduled to play a three-match Twenty20 series, starting January 25.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is confident of securing home-and-away bilateral series against India, England and Australia for the next two years after the ICC Board meeting in Singapore. The only downside for the BCB from the meeting is the the introduction of a play-off match between the current bottom-ranked Test side and the next Intercontinental Cup champions.”Negotiations are ongoing so it is quite early to say what we have gained in total,” a BCB official, requesting anonymity, said. “Most of the negotiations are going on with the BCCI, Cricket Australia and the ECB. Otherwise, there was no problem for Bangladesh heading into the meeting as the Test status had been secured in the earlier ICC meeting in Dubai.”Bangladesh will play according to the current FTP schedule, but with bilateral agreements in place. We will get more cricket for sure, and that will reflect in the next two years.”After returning from the last meeting, BCB president Nazmul Hassan had spoken about how he had decided to go with the majority if Bangladesh’s problems were removed from the “position paper”. The updated proposal does not contain the two-tier system, further enhancing Bangladesh’s support for the Big Three.Bangladesh toured Australia in 2003 for two Tests and three ODIs and played only three ODIs on their 2008 visit. The two sides last met in a Test match in 2006 in Bangladesh. With the 2015 World Cup a year away, BCB will look to fit in a tour to Australia this year.Bangladesh’s last Test series against India was in 2010 and the side have never toured India. A slot for an India series in 2016 is being discussed, but it has not yet been confirmed. Against England, Bangladesh last played a home-and-away series in 2010 but were not scheduled to tour England, or India, until 2020.The play-off match against the next Intercontinental Cup winner is the only issue of discontent for Bangladesh. The Intercontinental Cup is likely to begin after World Cup 2015, and end by 2017. The cut-off date to decide which Full Member will feature in the play-off matches is yet to be decided.According to the BCB official, the play-offs may be in the form of four five-day matches, which may be given first-class status. If the Test-playing nation wins, the Intercontinental Cup winner will not qualify as the eleventh Test nation. If the Associate country wins, however, the incumbent Test-playing nation will have 5% deducted from its ICC-generated revenue.

Outro jogo com polêmica do VAR aconteceu no último domingo, na vitória do Bahia sobre o Fluminense por 3 a 2. O árbitro Igor Benevenuto marcou pênalti depois de consultar o vídeo para o Bahia. Na cobrança, o camisa 9 cobrou mal e Agenor fez a defesa. Uma nova revisão do VAR, no entanto, constatou que o goleiro se adiantou no lance. Como já tinha amarelo por reclamação, o arqueiro foi novamente advertido e expulso.

FLUMINENSE X GOIÁS

Na primeira rodada deste Brasileiro, no dia 28 de abril, o Goiás venceu o Fluminense por 1 a 0 e o jogo também contou com polêmica do VAR. Foram três consultas ao vídeo pelo árbitro Dewson Freitas: primeiro para anular um pênalti em Bruno Silva e depois para confirmar penalidade a favor do Fluminense em lance de mão do zagueiro Yago, além de anular gol de Everaldo – lance que causou maior polêmica.

BOTAFOGO X FORTALEZA

Pela terceira rodada, o Botafogo venceu o Fortaleza por 1 a 0 e, mais uma vez, o VAR foi personagem de polêmica. Pelo árbitro Wagner Reway e árbitro de vídeo Leandro Pedro Vuaden, o auxiliar do VAR viu pênalti de Gilson em Wellington Paulista, mas o juiz principal não seguiu e mandou o lance seguir, gerando muita reclamação dos jogadores cearenses.

ATLÉTICO-MG X AVAÍ

Outro jogo da primeira rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro que contou com polêmica do VAR foi a vitória do Atlético-MG sobre o Avaí por 2 a 1. O árbitro foi Rodolpho Toski Marques e o árbitro de vídeo, Rodrigo Nunes de Sa. O gol que seria de empate dos catarinenses foi anulado após a consulta das imagens.

CORINTHIANS X GRÊMIO

Mais um jogo com polêmica do VAR neste Campeonato Brasileiro foi na quarta rodada, no empate sem gols entre Corinthians e Grêmio. O árbitro Marcelo de Lima Henrique chegou a marcar um pênalti a favor do Grêmio quando Everton chutou a bola no braço esquerdo de Fagner. O lance, entretanto, foi anulado após a checagem do vídeo.

SANTOS X INTERNACIONAL

No último fim de semana, o empate sem gols entre Santos e Internacional pelo Campeonato Brasileiro também gerou discussão pelo VAR. Aos 39 minutos, Rodrygo tabelou com o meia peruano pelo lado esquerdo e se chocou com Cuesta dentro da área. O árbitro Rodolpho Toski Marques assinalou o pênalti na hora, mas anulou a marcação após consultar o VAR, o que gerou muita reclamação por parte do Peixe.

Desde então, o clube não divulga prazos para o retorno do atleta.

Para curar a lesão, considerada grave, o equatoriano precisou passar por uma cirurgia de reconstrução dos ligamentos após ruptura do tendão patelar do joelho direito.
