Newcastle fans use incredible transfer claim to bash Pardew

Newcastle fans have been reacting to a report that claims Mohamed Salah nearly signed for the Magpies in 2011.Tuesday night at Anfield was remarkable for a number of reasons. The atmosphere was deafening, Liverpool placed themselves firmly back amongst Europe’s elite, and the Reds’ rampant attack ran riot once again.Above all else though, Mohamed Salah showed for the one hundredth time this season that he is quite simply unplayable. The former Chelsea man added two more wonderful goals to his tally, now 43 for the season, but what could have been if the electric Egyptian had moved to Tyneside?According to a report in the Chronicle, Salah was all set to join Alan Pardew’s Newcastle when he was just 18.[ad_pod ]The 18 year-old Salah was still playing for Egyptian side El Mokawloon, but had been noticed by Newcastle’s scouts and even described the move himself as a dream move.“Newcastle will soon make an official offer to sign me for one season. I don’t think Contractors will refuse to let me play in the English Premier League,†said young Salah.“It’s a dream for any player to play in one of the strongest league competitions in the world.â€The deal was a loan with a view to buy, and is thought to have collapsed due to Newcastle’s refusal to pay a loan fee of about £500,000.The speedy winger eventually joined Swiss side Basel instead, and the rest is history.Newcastle fans are a pessimistic bunch when it comes to transfers, especially when it’s related to Alan Pardew, and some of the best Twitter reactions can be found below…

Revealed: 83% of Man United fans want club to swoop for Alderweireld

Manchester United’s Premier League defensive record is almost identical to that of champions and local rivals Manchester City – the red half have conceded just one more goal (27) than the blue half – so the back four might not be the obvious place to look when examining where Jose Mourinho needs to improve in order to catch Pep Guardiola’s men next season.

However, it is clear to see that the United backline isn’t fit for purpose; it still contains too many players who were at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson and the Reds have to play too conservatively to protect it.

That means that attention has turned to who can be brought in and one name that has been banded around is that of Toby Alderweireld.

The man valued at £36m by Transfermarkt is clearly not in Mauricio Pochettino’s good books and that’s why we asked you whether United should take advantage of that and swoop.

The response was overwhelming, as 83 per cent of you said that Mourinho should make a bid. Take a look at the full results below…

Leeds fans crucify owner for Myanmar comments

Leeds fans are once again bashing owner Andrea Radrizzani, after the Italian defended the club’s post-season trip to Myanmar.

There have been some pretty odd decisions at Elland Road this season.

Signing an injured youngster (Tyler Roberts) to solve the side’s goalscoring woes in January was pretty bizarre, while the signing of Yosuke Ideguchi seems strange even by Leeds’ transfer standards.

If the total collapse in the second half of the season and the arrival of the uninspiring Paul Heckingbottom wasn’t enough to infuriate fans, the club announced recently they would travel to Myanmar on a post-season trip.

The decision was met with plenty of criticism, as the country is currently the subject of social and political unrest, and the club were bashed for promoting a government accused of ethnic cleansing.

Andrea Radrizzani had originally defended the trip by claiming the club would receive no money but were just there to spread joy to the people of Myanmar, and his latest quotes are drawing plenty of criticism too.

Radrizzani told the BBC: “We’re just coming here to play football with our friends from the local football federation.

“We are not against any government, we are not discriminating (against) anyone, we are against violence and we’re just playing football and bringing joy to the people. We are not making any money out of this game.”

The Leeds owner also said they are working with the Myanmar FA to create project “on the football pitch as well as the media”, and fans are bashing the businessman for his comments.

Revealed: 80% of Everton fans want summer swoop for Carvalho

According to reports in Portugal, Everton are in pole position to sign Sporting CP star William Carvalho, and fans are desperate to sign the midfielder.

A report in last week’s A Bola claimed Everton have moved ahead of West Ham and Inter Milan in the race for William Carvalho.

The towering midfielder has had another good season in Portugal, and has been constantly linked with moves to the Premier League since his impressive showing at Euro 2016.

The Toffees sent scouts to watch the 26 year-old in action recently against Benfica, and the report claims they have a “clear intention” to sign the midfielder.

Carvalho is an extremely effective defensive midfielder, and could potentially form a devastating partnership with Idrissa Gueye, or even replace the wiry midfielder if he leaves the club.

Carvalho is averaging 1.8 tackles per game in all competitions this season, along with 1.1 interceptions, 1.3 clearances and an impressive 88.5 per cent pass completion rate.

Fans have been voting on whether they should sign the Portuguese international, who will likely cost more than €30million (£26.4m), and a whopping 80 per cent said they would back a summer swoop.

You can find the full poll results for yourself below…

HYS: Should Newcastle make shock swoop for Javier Hernandez?

According to a source close to the club, West Ham are still looking to sell Javier Hernandez this summer, so should Newcastle be at the front of the queue?

Reports suggest Javier Hernandez will still leave West Ham this summer, despite the departure of David Moyes.

The Mexican striker was at odds with the Scotsman, but sources close the club suggest the 29 year-old will leave the club regardless of who the new manager is.

Newcastle are of course on the hunt for a striker this summer, so could the crafty Chicharito be their man?

The two fan bases are of course locking horns this week over the Hammers’ interest in Rafael Benitez, so West Ham fans might not be too happy about selling to the Magpies.

[ad_pod ]

Still, Benitez is certainly after a new number nine this summer, and he’s unlikely to find one with more Premier League goalscoring experience than Hernandez.

Hernandez was a huge hit at Old Trafford, but hasn’t found the same success in his second stint in England with West Ham. Despite only starting 16 league games this season though, he has still managed eight goals.

The interest in the likes of Islam Slimani shows Benitez is probably looking for a target man, but if Chicharito is on the move he should absolutely be willing to take a gamble on the Mexican international, who has an incredible 49 goals in 100 caps for his country.

So, Newcastle fans, would you back a summer swoop for the unwanted Hernandez? Let us know by voting in the poll below…

Ovie Ejaria would be an exciting addition to Rangers midfield

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Rangers are looking to bring Liverpool talent Ovie Ejaria to Ibrox this summer, with Steven Gerrard expecting to conclude a deal this week.

What’s the story?

Having already completed the close-season signings of Allan McGregor, Jamie Murphy and Scott Arfield, Rangers are on the hunt for more talent that can improve the first-team available to new boss Gerrard.

One name the new manager is keen to bring to Glasgow is 20-year-old Ovie Ejaria.

That’s according to The Sun, who say that the player could be released and signed by the Light Blues as early as this week.

The paper say that Gerrard is keen to bring him in now so he can get up to speed for the Gers’ crucial European qualifiers that are set to kick-off early next month.

[ad_pod ]

Who is he?

Rated at £900,000 by Transfermarkt, Ejaria spent the second half of last season on loan at Championship side Sunderland, scoring on the final day against division champions Wolverhampton Wanderers.

That, alongside eight appearances for the Reds, is his only experience of first-team football so there is no doubt he would be coming to the Light Blues as a raw prospect.

Primarily a central midfielder, the 20-year-old loves to dribble, averaging three a game when at Sunderland, as demonstrated by WhoScored. He’s a player who likes to get on the ball and effect the game in the final third, also averaging a shot and a key pass per game while at the Stadium of Light.

With plenty of learning to do, there aren’t many better teachers for the youngster than Gerrard and if he feels Ejaria is ready for life at Rangers, fans should feel hopeful that he can make an impact in the Scottish Premiership.

‘Excellent work’, ‘Brilliant’ – West Ham fans gush over new signing

Manuel Pellegrini has completed his first transfer as West Ham manager as Ryan Fredericks joined on a free transfer.

The right-back, who secured promotion to the Premier League with Fulham and was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year, has signed the Hammers on a four-year-deal.

The move has long-been expected after Fredericks turned down a contract extension in January when the clubs refused his demands.

West Ham announced the signing by posting a video on Twitter highlighting the player’s pace, showing footage of him as a youngster on an athletics track romping home to victory in a 100m race.

Fredericks, 25, will officially join West Ham on July 1 and told whufc.com: “It’s amazing for this deal to finally happen.

“Obviously, it’s an exciting time for West Ham. The club have just brought in a new manager in Manuel Pellegrini and everyone knows his CV and what he has done in England before and in other leagues as well. I’m sure I can learn a lot from him. “

Unai Emery would be making first Arsenal mistake if he signs Miguel Layun

According to Spanish media outlet AS, Arsenal are one of three clubs interested in signing FC Porto star Miguel Layun if he doesn’t sign a permanent deal with Sevilla following a loan spell last season.

What’s the word, then?

Well, AS report that Gunners boss Unai Emery, as well as AC Milan and Marseille, are ready to pounce for the versatile 29-year-old, who impressed for Mexico in their 1-0 World Cup win against the holders Germany last weekend.

The 5ft 10in tall star, who played in an attacking role in that match and humiliated defender Mats Hummels among others, but can also play as a full-back and defensive midfielder, would have caught the eye of a number of clubs with his impressive display.

If he did arrive at the Emirates Stadium, he would likely be competing with the likes of Alex Iwobi, Hector Bellerin, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Granit Xhaka for a spot in the starting XI.

How did Layun do last season?

After a difficult first-half of the campaign with Porto, the former Watford man was a regular in the Sevilla side – mainly at right-back – as he made 18 appearances in all competitions for them, scoring two goals.

[brid autoplay=”true” video=”257647″ player=”12034″ title=”3 Reasons We Love To Hate… Brazil and Argentina”]

Why would he be a bad Arsenal signing?

While Layun was hugely impressive against Germany in the World Cup and could prove to be something of a bargain buy this summer, the Gunners should be looking to add players that are better than what they already have this summer, and it would be hard to argue that the 29-year-old is.

He would be third-choice right-back behind Bellerin and Lichtsteiner, and it would be hard to see him getting regular minutes in midfield, especially with talented youngsters like Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Reiss Nelson already waiting in the wings behind the north London outfit’s senior players.

If Emery, whom Arsenal fans have demanded sign a £67.5m attacker following his latest World Cup display, did bring the Mexican to the Emirates, he would be making his first error since he took charge.

‘Announce his new contract and the captaincy’ – Arsenal fans beg for agreement after club post

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have all been saying exactly the same thing in response to their club’s Twitter post. The club tweeted two pictures of Aaron Ramsey of his first and most recent headshots in his time at the club, and the fans all believe that it’s a sign that he’ll be getting a new contract soon.

Ramsey has slowly made his way to being one of Arsenal’s most important players. The midfielder can be deployed in a number of positions but is most potent when roaming and finding space from central midfield behind the likes of Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. His runs from deep are what you’d expect from Paul Pogba in his Juventus days and when he’s on his game he is unplayable.

The fans understand the importance that he has to the current squad and Unai Emery would be doing himself a massive favour in winning the fans over by making Aaron Ramsey’s contract extension a priority. The 27-year-old has been at Arsenal for a whopping ten years now and with his contract set to expire next summer, everyone associated with the club will want to see a new deal for Welshman on the table as soon as possible.

You can read our local Gunners’ verdict on their club’s tweet here:

Arsenal fans everywhere will be delighted when Ramsey signs a new deal with the club, his performances over the last few years for both Arsenal and Wales have put him on the map as of the best players in the Premier League in his position and he’ll be keen to remain at Arsenal for longer.

West Ham fans react to big Jordan Lukaku development

Lazio announced on Friday they had completed the signing of left-back Riza Durmisi which could in turn push through the exit of reported West Ham United target Jordan Lukaku, and Irons fans have been quick to react to the news.[ad_pod ]Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sera, via Lazio News, report that the east London clubs are in talks with the Serie A giants over a double swoop for Felipe Anderson and Lukaku, who would provide competition for the likes of Arthur Masuaku and Aaron Cresswell in the left-back/left wing-back role at the London Stadium. However, their Premier League rivals Leicester City are also said to be keen on Romelu’s 23-year-old brother, and it will be interesting to see if he does end up in the English top flight, or not.[brid autoplay=”true” video=”257647″ player=”12034″ title=”Three reasons we love to hate… Brazil and Argentina”]West Ham supporters, who are split on signing a 26-year-old World Cup ace following his latest display, have taken to social media to give their thoughts on the latest Lukaku development, and while one said “it would make sense to think Lukaku is on his way”, another said “Lukaku is just a poor Masuaku”.Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
